Local Students Attend National Dance Marathon Leadership Conference

This past weekend over 40 student leaders from Dance Marathon programs across the state of Iowa attended Children’s Miracle Network’s Dance Marathon Leadership Conference. This national conference hosted nearly 1,000 attendees from Dance Marathon programs all over the country to learn from Children’s Miracle Network staff and from each other. The students attended educational sessions on topics ranging from asset management, community engagement, stewardship, and everything in between. They had opportunities to network with other programs and take home plenty of exciting new ideas. In addition to coming home with new ideas, Team Iowa also brought home some exciting awards:

  • University of Iowa Dance Marathon won the Alumni Engagement Award
  • University of Northern Iowa Dance Marathon won the Miracle Maker Award

Team Iowa also shared their best practices by having three programs host presentations:

  • University of Iowa Dance Marathon presented “Ignite to Include: Building a Community that Celebrates Difference to Unite as One”
  • University of Northern Iowa Dance Marathon presented “The Reality of Introducing a Participant Fundraising Minimum”
  • Wartburg College Dance Marathon presented ” Building an impactful Relationship Within your University and your Community”

University of Iowa Dance Marathon and Iowa State Dance Marathon both participated as 2 of 17 programs to perform a clip of their Morale Dance to the entire conference.

It was a great weekend full of fun, learning, and spreading our FTK passion!
