Spirit Halloween is now open!

Are you excited for Halloween? Spirit Halloween stores are officially open in Iowa, and you can shop with a cause at your local Spirit Halloween store. By participating in their Spirit of Children program, you’ll be supporting the University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children’s Hospital. Seven Spirit Halloween locations in Iowa will be collecting donations at the registers to benefit our Child Life department. (Check out the Iowa Store Location List.) Since 2006, Spirit Halloween has aimed to use the magic of Halloween through its Spirit of Children program to bring communities together and ease the challenges of a child’s medical journey. Thanks to the support of enthusiastic guests and the collaboration of vendors and licensing partners, Spirit of Children has raised over $127 million to fund Child Life Services at Children’s Hospitals around the country. 

Every donation made to Spirit of Children goes directly to the Child Life Department at each store’s local partner hospital, supporting children and their families during their care. These donations help provide essential child life staff, sibling and family support services, sensory equipment, and patient-focused resources like therapy programs, toys, crafts, and art supplies. Additionally, each Halloween, partner hospitals receive packages with costumes, accessories, coloring books, crayons, and tote bags to create festive celebrations for patients, caregivers, and their families.
