DIAGNOSIS: Chronic Kidney Disease

Sawyer has been receiving ongoing care at University of Iowa Health Care (UIHC) Stead Family Children’s Hospital for his Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Over the years, he has undergone multiple surgeries related to his condition, and has been under the care of specialists in Gastroenterology, Urology, and Nephrology.

Despite the challenges that come with CKD, Sawyer has shown remarkable resilience, benefiting from the expertise of his medical team. With only one kidney remaining, the specialists at UIHC Stead Family Children’s Hospital have worked diligently to manage his condition and prolong the need for a transplant. Thanks to their ongoing support and regular check-ups, Sawyer has been able to maintain his health and continue his journey with the best care possible.
