Introducing the 2025 CMN National Champion, Cooper Estenson!
Going from having a healthy child to one with cancer is incredibly difficult. On Dec. 4, 2021, Cooper’s lab results revealed a devastating diagnosis: T Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Immediate, aggressive treatment began, and Cooper was soon admitted to the Pediatric ICU on dialysis with dangerously high electrolyte levels. Over the next two years, he faced multiple hospitalizations and challenges. In March 2024, just a month before he was set to finish treatment, Cooper was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma, likely caused by the mono virus taking advantage of his weakened immune system. This was rare, but treatable. In July 2024, during what was supposed to be Cooper’s final PET scan, a suspicious area was found in his right tonsil, delaying his treatment completion. After a tonsillectomy on July 23, Cooper’s oncologist called with good news on July 24: the results were clear, and it was finally time to remove his port. Cooper was scheduled to ring the bell on August 6, one day after his 12thbirthday. The port removal on August 8 marked the end of his treatment and the return to normal childhood activities like football and swimming. We’re so excited to have Cooper as our CMN National Champion for 2025!
