Great Clips Kicks off Annual Campaign

The 2024 CMN Great Clips campaign kicked off 9/27. Together, CMN and Great Clips has set a goal to raise $1 million nationwide. That is $600.00 per store or $20.00 per day at each salon.  

This year we turn our focus on raising CMN dollars to support the salon at University of Iowa Health Care. The University of Iowa Health Care Fourth Floor Salon is funded by volunteer services. The salon offers services such as haircuts and styles, head shaving parties, wig fittings, detangling, and even a complimentary program to pediatric inpatients with services such as temporary tattoos, manicures, hair stylings and much more. This year we will feature Ryker as our Great Clips Salon Champion. Ryker, who was born at 25 weeks and 3 days, is the son of local Great Clips stylist, Jessica Casper.

Ryker was born at 25 weeks 3 days old and spent 149 days in the NICU. Due to Ryker’s heart complications, he needed to have his heart ballooned at 69 days old so blood could pass through it. When Ryker was 130 days old, he needed to have a hernia repair.

Ryker is currently 3 years old and is enjoying preschool. Ryker’s mom, Jessica said, “Over the last 3 years there were a lot of ups and downs. University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children’s Hospital not only made sure Ryker was okay but also made sure we were taken care of and supported”. Ryker continues to be seen at Stead Family Children’s Hospital for follow ups and to have his heart monitored. When Ryker’s heart gets a little bigger (typically between age 5-7) he will need heart surgery to have a valve replaced.
